Hi! I am a 53 yr old Nurse, mom wife and grandmother. I recently lost 140 pounds. I worked hard and it took almost 3 yrs. I was scheduled to have a panniculectomy, removal of abdominal apron of skin. It was approved by insurance. 4 days before the scheduled date the hospital finance department called me and canceled the procedure. Stating they wanted more guarantee of payment from insurance or I could pay out of pocket.
I don’t know about anyone else but 10000 in 4 days is quite unrealistic. The procedure was canceled. I am dealing with hip pain, skin infections and difficulty with my daily cleansing. The hanging skin is quite heavy to lift and cleanse under. I have to have my spouse or adult daughter assist with drying and applying ointments and powders. There are open areas under there that become infected and i have to take antibiotics at least 4 times a yr.
I plan to continue trying to work with my doctor surgeon and insurance but would like to have the surgery soon.
I am looking for some compassion and funding to facilitate the cost.
