During this journey, I’ve managed to start hormone therapy and even as of recently I’ve gotten top surgery, but one thing still weighs heavily on me: my legal documents still list my previous name. This mismatch has made it difficult for people to respect my true identity, and it’s been emotionally exhausting to constantly explain myself or face misunderstandings in daily life.
Having my legal name changed would be the final step in fully living as myself. It would mean no more misrepresentation or confusion, and I could finally move through the world with confidence and peace. Unfortunately, due to credit issues, I need to hire a lawyer to help with the process, and the combined legal and attorney fees are more than I can manage on my own right now.
