Hello, hope everyone is having a nice day. I know things are hard right now; we are all feeling it. I’m talking to those who can afford to help someone they would probably never meet under normal circumstances. I am a 50-some-year-old widow that has been living with Meniere’s Disease for a decade now. I was told I would probably need a service dog years ago but discovered you have to pay thousands of dollars for them out of pocket. Now, I am about 70 percent blind and half deaf. My daughters and I realized my sight is never coming back; the surgery for it would aggravate the Meniere’s too much to risk. I have been living in the dark, not leaving the house for 5 years. The fear of a drop attack or an episodic seizure is too risky to even go check the mail on my own. Having a service dog would make an amazing difference when I walk by helping keep me balanced, and if I do have a drop attack, they will be able to brace me so I can get up. Now, knowing I am going blind, it has set off in me that this is very real, and I need to treat it as serious as it is instead of a ‘could maybe happen.’ I have been in contact with New Horizons in Orange City, Florida. I need $50 to apply and $500 for a service dog. After that, I will need to get a hotel for 5 days and be able to supply food and medical care for them. Some will be ongoing expenses and in case of emergency. If you can’t help now, maybe you can help someone in the future, but anyone willing to help now would be greatly appreciated and beyond life-changing. Thank you.
