Hi, my name is Nicole, and I never imagined I’d be here—asking for help to fix what was broken by a surgery meant to make my life better.
A few years ago, I underwent what was supposed to be a standard hysterectomy. But during the procedure, the surgeon made a vertical cut through my abdominal wall, leaving me with a condition called diastasis recti, where the abdominal muscles are permanently separated. Since then, my body has struggled to hold itself together—literally.
As a result of the muscle damage, I’ve developed two umbilical hernias, both of which required surgical repair. Recently, I found out I’ve developed a third. The doctors told me this cycle will continue unless I undergo a full abdominal muscle repair—the only way to restore the core strength and support my body so desperately needs.
But here’s where things get even more difficult: my insurance won’t cover the muscle repair portion of the surgery. They consider it “cosmetic,” even though this is a functional, medical necessity. Without it, I’m facing repeated surgeries, ongoing pain, and a serious risk to my long-term health.
This isn’t about vanity. It’s about being able to move without pain, parent my children, work, and live without the fear of my body breaking down again.
I’m asking for your help—whether through donations, shares, or prayers. Every bit helps bring me closer to healing. The funds raised will go directly toward the out-of-pocket surgical costs, travel to a specialist if needed, and recovery expenses.
Thank you for reading my story. I’ve carried this pain quietly for so long, but I believe in the power of community—and in the hope that something broken can still be made whole.
With gratitude,
Nicole
