Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I am reaching out to share the story of my daughter Kassie, who has been through a life-changing ordeal. Kassie was involved in a devastating automobile accident caused by a driver who ran a red light. As a result, she suffered a right traumatic brain injury (TBI) and now has limited usage of her left side. Since the accident, she has been entirely dependent on me for her care.
For the past four years, Kassie has been covered by Medicaid, which has been a tremendous help. However, her insurance was suddenly canceled, leaving us to shoulder the financial burden entirely. This unexpected change means I am now paying out of pocket for all her medical expenses, from appointments to medications. Kassie has not been able to see her therapists since February, which has taken a toll on her mental health. Her medication refills have also run out, and without the funds to pay for her appointments and prescriptions, I am at a loss for how to continue her care.
I have tried to appeal the Medicaid decision, but because her disability appeal application has not yet been approved, they are unable to overturn the cancellation. Our attorney advised us to reapply, and I am actively working on this, but the process is lengthy and uncertain. This entire journey has been an emotional, physical, and financial roller coaster for both of us.
We are reaching out to ask for your help. Any support you can provide, whether it be financial, through prayer, or simply sharing our story, would mean the world to us. Your generosity will directly impact Kassie’s ability to receive the care she desperately needs.
