Saludos Mi Gente,
I am Glorya Ochun Cabrera. You may recognize my name as I recently created a campaign to help a person who was the victim of a hate crime. I wish I had good news to share, but I am now raising funds for my own medical expenses.
I had an agreement with that person who I raised $84K for that I would earn 10% of the gross for handling his campaign. I wrote press releases, daily updates, did videos, and connected him to media engagements. I did all of this with love.
This 10% I decided would go towards medical treatment that I need after being diagnosed with a rare skin disease that has no cure. I shared a few photos of my legs. I’ve used a special compound cream for about 11 months. This isn’t helping. My Mount Sinai dermatologist recommended that I see a specialist for laser skin resurfacing. My Medicare insurance does not cover this treatment as it’s considered to be cosmetic. Each session costs up to $3,000.
I put down $1,000 with the guarantee that I’d be paid the remaining balance of close to $5,000. Only there is only silence at the end of this communication where there used to be gratitude for the $84K I raised for his needs.
I don’t want to be bitter about helping another human being. I didn’t expect to be in this position of asking for help to cover medical expenses. Here I am… I appreciate your generosity. I hope you can understand how devastating it is to watch my skin explode from an unknown rare skin disease. I plan to be tested to see if this condition is an allergic reaction to the metals I have in my spinal fusion. I have an MRI upcoming that will put me back in contact with my neurosurgeon in order to start that allergy testing process.
Meanwhile, I want the laser resurfacing as I now have to cover my arms and legs as my skin is now susceptible to skin cancer.
Thank you in advance,
Many blessings,
Glorya Ochun Cabrera
