On Monday, June 2nd, Jason W. Bourne was flown to Roanoke hospital after having been found to have an aneurysm on his aorta.
In mid-flight, the aneurysm burst.
He was immediately taken into the operating room at 6:30 p.m. and didn’t come out of surgery until 2:30 a.m.
Due to the trauma of the situation, his kidneys also shut down.
They had him on a machine that was making the blood flow throughout his body in order to make things easier on his heart after having an emergency bypass.
However, they discovered multiple “leaks” throughout his body and the blood was not clotting at all. It was essentially behaving like water.
He’s once again taken to the operating room where doctors attempted to locate each leak and seal it off. The surgery to seal off the leaks was successful, and he’s slowly improving. Jason is still in critical condition.
His ruptured aneurysm was stitched, a valve replaced, and a bypass done during the first surgery. The second sealed a leak near his heart.
He’s still on dialysis, but his kidneys are somewhat functioning.
They’re keeping an eye on his diminished liver function, and he’s still using a machine to pump mechanically aerated blood for his heart.
His blood pressure had been fluctuating, but that’s regulated now. He’s also off sedation meds as of this early morning.
He can wake up any time now to next week; that’s just a wait-and-see thing. If he’s disoriented when he does wake up, he’ll be mildly sedated to keep him from hurting himself. Jason and his family are in desperate need of prayer and financial help. Anything given would be a blessing, whether it be money or prayer. Thank you and God bless us all!
