Hello Everyone,
This young lady is going to start round two of battles for her life. In July 2024, she went into cardiac arrest due to a 12-inch mass around her heart. Later on, they discovered it was aggressive Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Nyssa started a nine-month battle of chemotherapy. There were ups and downs, but the strength to pull her through came from these two beautiful babies. After completing this, she was deemed cancer-free with a 90% chance that it would not come back. However, 4 1/2 to five months later, she started not to feel good and went back in, and lo and behold, that ugly cancer came back!!
This is a huge setback for a young 22-year-old with a one-and-a-half-year-old and a 10-month-old baby. She started life back over, looking for an apartment, getting a job, and everything came crashing down again.
Doctors are going a different route this time. Nyssa will go through Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell Therapy (Immunotherapy). Yep, only words the doctors understand. Essentially, they are going to be taking the T-cells out of her blood, sending them to the lab, and having them bio-engineered to be put back in to attack the cancer. Once this happens, she must be under 24/7 care for 30 days. It’s been decided Nyssa will stay at the hospital in Rochester for this time. Only one could imagine a 30-day stay in a hospital without babies; this is going to challenge everyone.
Multiple appointments have begun, and bills have started racking up again. The process for any assistance has been very laborious and slow!! Family has been there, but a lot more is needed. Arrangements have been made for the kids during this time. There is an immense amount of traveling and lodging needed during this time.
We are fundraising to support Nyssa and her family during this challenging time.
