Join Hollie’s Journey to Better Mental Health

Hello! I am Hollie Dazzle, and I am creating this campaign to raise funds to support me during intensive outpatient mental health treatment.

There’s a reason that my favorite song starts with the line “She’s not the kind of girl who likes to tell the world about the way she feels about herself.” I am sure that many will be surprised by this campaign and the details I am about to provide. I am not someone who likes to broadcast my mental health struggles to the world. I keep those things quiet and personal, and that’s actually part of the problem. I am terrible at prioritizing myself, my needs, my health, and my happiness. Nothing in life has made me happier than seeing other people happy. But lately, it’s been harder and harder to give.

I attend weekly therapy and have for many years. I have suffered from situational depression, often as the result of my physical health and disabilities, and have had a lifelong battle with generalized anxiety. What I did not realize until much more recently is that I also suffer from OCD. The cumulative effect of stress and trauma has finally caught up with me, and this OCD has gotten to a point that is no longer manageable. Many times recently, I have struggled to leave my home and spend time with other people or in social situations. Travel has become a terrifying prospect, despite my deep desire to see the world. My world feels as though it is getting smaller by the day, and I am afraid there will come a time when I can’t leave my house. My naturally extroverted personality is at constant war with these feelings.

Much like in 2019, when I felt the pull towards a major health intervention (my hysterectomy), I feel that pull once again. Something big has to change, and a bigger step needs to be taken in order to correct the path I am on. Unlike in 2019, though, I do not have a spouse and close family to lean on financially.

I will be attending the Rogers Behavioral Health Center’s OCD and Anxiety Partial Hospitalization/Intensive Outpatient treatment program. This program runs for 4-6 weeks, from 8 am-3 pm daily. This will require me to take a leave from work, which is why I am making this campaign. Like many Americans, I live check to check. I have no savings, no assets to sell, no ability to support myself financially while I take this time from work. I am asking for $2500 to help cover my bills and expenses while I attend the program. Anything not applied towards expenses will be applied towards the cost of the program. I have health insurance, but the program will cost me 6 grand out of pocket. There are patient care grants I can apply for, and financial assistance I may qualify for through the program’s billing office, and in the very worst-case scenario, I will be making good faith payments monthly for many years to pay this debt off. Gotta love for-profit healthcare!

There are many ways you can help with this campaign, whether through donations, through interactions on posts about it, or by sharing/promoting the campaign. I have seen the power of asking for help and the amazing ways that people can show up for one another. Thank you so much for clicking and reading through this. Much love to you all!

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
