On behalf of all of Kirsten’s Mother Infant RN sisters, I am setting up this fundraiser for her daughter Elliana Grace. Many of you know that Elliana was born with an atrioventricular canal defect that, if not repaired, would be fatal. This was especially devastating to find out, as Kirsten’s twin sister Kara died of the exact same heart defect at 2 months old.
So when Elliana was just over 2 months old, Justin, Kirsten, and Aiden put her into the amazing hands of the surgical team at Boston Children’s Hospital to fix her defect. The surgery cost them hundreds of thousands out of pocket because Boston Children’s is not in-network for their health insurance. Kirsten and Justin both work tirelessly in their professions and didn’t ask for a dime for this first surgery. But they have just found out the heart-wrenching news that their vibrant, full-of-life, almost 3-year-old Ellie, is going to require another open-heart surgery at Boston this July. Her original repair is still strong, but there is a new obstructing subaortic membrane growing below her heart valve that is considered severe and life-threatening. This only happens in 3-5% of cases.
We all can only imagine the emotional, financial, mental, and physical stress this has put on the life of their family. Would you please consider donating any amount you can and share this with all your friends and family? Let’s work together to ease the one part of the burden we can and raise as much as we can! Thank you for your support!
