Michael and his girlfriend Meredith were involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Sunday, June 8th. A vehicle either ran a stop sign or failed to yield and pulled out in front of them from Scott Blvd onto Route K and Michael was unable to stop in time. Michael struck the vehicle and Meredith was thrown over it resulting in significant injuries and a long and incredibly strenuous journey involving multiple surgeries for both. Both were wearing their helmets and it could have been so much worse…we are overwhelmed with gratitude that it was not. Both are still in the hospital recovering from their most recent surgeries…Michael has a severe concussion, open femoral fracture, two broken ankles, separation injury to his left shoulder & clavicle, three dislocated fingers & a broken wrist on his right hand, a 4 inch laceration to the groin and several road rash abrasions. Meredith has a broken pelvis and left ankle.
As such, both will be moving in to stay with us for the foreseeable future as they are both unlikely to return to work for several months at best. Many friends and family have reached out asking how they can help…please do not by any means feel obligated, but for those who have reached out, we have started a fundraiser to help with their existing monthly rent, utilities and insurance costs as well as both known and unknown expenses while we navigate this journey and an Amazon wish list for supplies that will be needed for in-home care once they are both discharged: (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2OD1D9GZS9XD4?ref_=wl_share)
We have been incredibly touched and humbled by the amount of love and support we have received…navigating the curve balls life throws at you can be overwhelming, but we are so blessed to have the support and community that we do! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
