Hi all,
As you know, MJ moved to Des Moines, IA about two and a half years ago. During COVID she suffered from a stroke in her sleep that she and we were unaware of and unfortunately led to her ultimate diagnosis of dementia.
While she was able to stay in Santa Fe for a good while after this had happened, ultimately the decision was made to move her back to Des Moines to a care facility there. Luckily she has her brothers and sister there to help out and visit her. She seems to have settled in, but again, the dementia continues to get worse and she is now moved to the 24 hour care portion of the facility.
I post this with great reluctance, but some decisions with her guardianship were made quite abruptly and I’m left trying to figure our her finances to keep her safe and in a place that she is somewhat “familiar” with so that nothing more disruptive happens in her care. I have been forwarded a medical bill of hers which I cannot cover. The total is $1,574.04.
Anything you might be able to pitch in to help to cover this cost is so appreciated. I know we are all in similar situations and I really do appreciate you even taking the time to read this. My ultimate goal is to keep her the most comfortable she can be given the state of the disease.
