My name is Jacob, and I am slowly going blind.
I was diagnosed with keratoconus in 2013. Since then, my vision has worsened year after year. Glasses no longer work. I’ve tried multiple scleral lenses, but my condition has become so severe — with steep, thin, and irregular corneas — that even those no longer help. Cornea thickness is less than 400 microns.
Doctors have told me that a combination of corneal cross-linking surgery and vision prosthetic lenses could save and restore some of my sight. But the treatment is expensive — far beyond what I can afford.
Because of my vision loss, I’ve lost my job. I can’t read properly. I can’t see faces. I can’t walk confidently. Every day is a quiet fight against darkness. I’m not asking for comfort or luxury — only for the chance to see again, to work, and to live with dignity and independence.
Even a small contribution can bring me one step closer to seeing the world again.
