Hi, my name is Andrew. I’m a 24-year-old transgender man, and I’m fundraising to help cover the cost of top surgery — a medically necessary and deeply affirming step in my transition that I’ve been working toward for years.
My Journey
I began socially transitioning in 2020 and have since undergone hormone replacement therapy and attended therapy to work through the emotional toll of gender dysphoria. I’ve been researching and preparing for top surgery for about 3–4 years, and now I’m finally in a position where I’m ready — emotionally and mentally — to take this next step.
Top surgery isn’t just a cosmetic procedure for me. It will drastically improve my quality of life by:
• Reducing my general and social anxiety
• Alleviating depression and gender dysphoria
• Helping me feel safer and more confident in public
• Encouraging better self-care (like working out, going outside, and socializing again)
This surgery is about helping my body reflect who I truly am — and creating space for healing and joy.
Where the Funds Will Go
Unfortunately, the financial burden of gender-affirming surgery is heavy — and insurance doesn’t always cover the full amount. I’m asking for help to raise at least 80% of the cost, which will go toward:
• Surgery Costs: $8,000–$10,000
• Travel & Lodging: $1,000
• Time Off Work: $2,500–$4,000
• Post-Surgery Supplies: ~$100 (compression vest, OTC meds, scar care)
Every dollar helps — seriously. Even just sharing this means the world to me.
Why This Matters
I’ve spent years being misgendered, often because my chest makes it difficult for others to see me for who I really am. I dream of a day when holding the door open for someone is just a kind act — not another moment where I’m misread and pushed back into a body I never chose.
Top surgery won’t solve everything — I’m realistic about that — but it’s a huge step toward living more fully, authentically, and peacefully.
I’m currently in school training to become an EMT. As someone who hopes to serve others in high-stress, real-world situations, being able to move through the world discreetly and confidently as a transgender man is important to both my safety and sense of self.
Thank You
If you’ve read this far — thank you. Whether you donate, share, or just send a kind word, your support means more than I can express. You’re helping me get closer to a life where I feel whole and free.
Forward for peace,
Andrew
