I’m Scott, a USMC vet and retired Federal Agent. I do part-time work as an investigator. After my divorce in 2023, I bought a house that is/was in need of some repairs. I used most of what was left in my 401(k) to make it livable. It still needs work. Although I paid 20% in Federal Taxes on those withdrawals, I didn’t take Wisconsin income tax into account and owe them $12,000. That is my fault. I am trying to pick up more work
Last March, I went to the doctor because I was losing vision in my right eye. An MRI found that I had just had about 10 embolic strokes. I had to have my left carotid artery cleaned out, which may or may not have been the cause of my vision problems. I had to take a month off of work, winding down my current investigations, and then awaiting the all-clear to go back to work. I think the VA and my private insurance will cover most of my medical bills. So far, I have been billed for about $8,000 after my private insurance has paid their part.
This is a problem of my own making, or at least the tax problem is. If you have a heart to help me out, I would appreciate it, but there are more deserving people here. Either way, God bless you.
