Help Daniel Heal: A 16-Year-Old’s Urgent Need for a Bone Marrow Transplant
Daniel is just 16 years old. In January, he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)—a diagnosis no teenager and no family should have to face.
He was started on a targeted therapy (a TKI), but instead of helping, the medication irreversibly suppressed his bone marrow function, leading to severe aplastic anemia. He is now severely neutropenic (no immune defense), severely thrombocytopenic (at risk of life-threatening bleeding), and completely transfusion-dependent with no sign of marrow recovery for over seven weeks.
Despite efforts from expert oncologists and CML specialists—and trials with GCSF and Nplate to stimulate his marrow—nothing has worked.
Daniel’s only remaining option is a life-saving bone marrow transplant (BMT).

A Mother’s Heart, A Family’s Fight
Mickela, Daniel’s mom, is a single mother of four. She is doing everything humanly possible to care for Daniel—staying by his side during long hospital stays and treatments—while still trying to care for her three other children at home.
No mother should have to carry this kind of weight alone. She’s never one to ask for help, so I’m asking for her.
This journey has been overwhelming in every way—emotionally, physically, and financially. Yet through it all, Mickela has clung to her faith, her children, and her fierce love for Daniel.
