3 years ago during COVID, I was a roofer and construction worker. While contracts were unavailable, I took a job as a bakery driver for Dunkin’ Donuts. During that time, I hurt my left wrist.
800 lbs of aluminum and baked goods were falling on a fellow baker because of a lift failure and poor maintenance from the owners/operators. I had no clue who she was, as I hardly ever saw the bakers. When I threw myself at the racks to try and catch it, I caused what is becoming permanent problems to my left wrist, creating an injury similar to a powerlifter refusing to let go of too much weight. My doctors are still struggling to figure out the extent of the damage.
During this time, Nationwide Insurance has only been giving me less than half my wages due to the finite laws related to time frames of applicable wages and COVID taking so long to balance out.
I am going to lose everything, all because I saved someone from guaranteed injury that was most likely going to be lethal. Nationwide is using the law and the situation to try and pressure me into accepting a low settlement, hoping that they can saddle me with a lifetime of medical burdens, all in spite of the fact that they would be paying out for a death had I not intervened.
The only reason I am asking for this charity is to fund my efforts against Nationwide, who is clearly on nobody’s side but their own.
