Help Stephen Fight Kidney Failure and Manage Growing Medical Costs
In August 2024, Stephen, a 56-year-old husband and father, went to his annual medical check up for type 2 diabetes. At the time, his blood work seemed normal. But during a routine follow-up in March 2025, his creatinine levels — an important indicator of kidney health — were dangerously high. Unfortunately, this critical result was never shared with him by his doctor.
Later that month, while on a family vacation, Stephen began feeling very unwell. Despite telling his doctor about his symptoms, she blamed his diabetes and continued prescribing him medication that actually worsened his condition. He experienced severe side effects but was told to keep taking it.
After weeks of feeling increasingly sick, Stephen lost 60 pounds in just six weeks. On June 2nd, he finally called out sick from work and saw his doctor the next day. That night, he received an urgent call — his potassium levels were life-threatening, and he was rushed to the ER.
Stephen spent two weeks in the hospital, where doctors discovered the real issue: his kidneys were in stage 5 failure, likely caused by an untreated blockage in his prostate. His future is now uncertain. He faces ongoing monitoring, a possible kidney transplant or dialysis, and surgery to remove the blockage.
To make things harder, his wife Irene lost her job in September 2024, along with the family’s health insurance. They had to buy a private plan with a $15,000 deductible. With twin children in college, growing medical bills, and possible loss of income, the family is overwhelmed.
We’re asking for your help to ease the burden of medical expenses and support Stephen’s recovery. Any donation, big or small, will make a difference. Please share and support if you can.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
