My mother, Carolina, has been battling triple-negative breast cancer for the past three years. As a family, we have done everything within our reach to face this challenge, often sacrificing time and resources. Personally, I had to leave university twice to help and support her through this journey.
About a two years ago, after a mastectomy, the cancer reappeared on her skin. My mother is incredibly resilient and strong, but it breaks my heart to see her endure the ongoing treatments and their side effects.
She has undergone multiple treatments, including 45 radiotherapy sessions and she lost count on how many chemo sessions she has had; her medications have been changed several times, sometimes due to availability, sometimes because they were no longer effective, or simply following medical protocols, current treatments have not stopped the progression of the disease.
For the past year, we have been trying to access immunotherapy, specifically Keytruda, but unfortunately, the cost is far beyond our means. A full year of treatment requires approximately 2 million mexican pesos, and we are in urgent need of support from everyone: friends, acquaintances, and even those who may come across our story.
Due to the current situation in my city (Culiacán), local commerce has been in decline, which has directly impacted our family’s financial stability. Additionally, while I work to support us, I technically receive no pay, which reduces our chances.

Mi madre, Carolina, ha estado luchando contra el cáncer de mama triple negativo durante los últimos tres años. Como familia, hemos hecho todo lo que está a nuestro alcance para enfrentar este desafío, sacrificando tiempo y recursos. Personalmente, tuve que abandonar la universidad en dos ocasiones para poder apoyarla y acompañarla en este camino.
Hace aproximadamente dos años, después de realizar la mastectomía, el cáncer reapareció en su piel. Mi madre es increíblemente fuerte y resiliente, pero me duele profundamente verla soportar los tratamientos continuos y sus efectos secundarios.
Ha recibido múltiples tratamientos, incluyendo 45 radioterapias y ella ha perdido la cuenta de cuantas quimioterapias lleva; sus medicamentos se han cambiado en varias ocasiones, a veces por falta de disponibilidad, otras porque ya no eran efectivos, o simplemente siguiendo los protocolos médicos. Sin embargo, los tratamientos actuales no han logrado detener el avance de la enfermedad.
Desde hace un año, hemos intentado acceder a la inmunoterapia, específicamente a Keytruda, pero lamentablemente el costo está muy por encima de nuestras posibilidades. Un año completo de tratamiento requiere aproximadamente 2 millones de pesos mexicanos, y necesitamos el apoyo de amigos, conocidos y de quienes puedan llegar a conocer nuestra historia.
Debido a la situación actual en mi ciudad (Culiacán), el comercio local ha ido en declive, lo que ha afectado directamente la estabilidad financiera de nuestra familia. Además, aunque trabajo para apoyarnos, técnicamente no recibo un salario, lo que reduce aún más nuestras posibilidades.
