My name is Stephanie Lathrop. I have started this fundraiser at the request of Tim “Fig” Bryson. In November 2023, Fig was traveling to North Carolina to attend a family event. While on the airplane, Fig had a Hemorrhagic Stroke. The plane diverted to Texas to get Fig the emergency care he needed as quickly as possible. Fig was in critical condition and had to remain in Texas for months. Since this occurred Fig has faced a long hard road to recovery and he continues to fight this battle. He has not done this alone thanks to his sister, Jackie, who has been there through every step supporting Fig.
The next step in his journey is to improve the use of his left side and his overall goal of being able to completely care for himself and get back on his Harley, is to travel to Florida for PSE treatment. The perispinal etanercept injection is provided by Dr. John Young at the Young Foundational Health Center in Largo, Florida. This treatment has proved to improve post-stroke pain, spasticity, walking, and sensation. There will be multiple costs associated with this treatment including traveling costs for him and his sister who will be accompanying Fig, the costs associated with the treatment, and of course the unknown costs that always occur without notice.
The goal is for Fig and Jackie to not have to worry about finances when making this trip to Florida, which will not be an easy trip for Fig to make and for him to not have to make decisions around the treatment based on finances. He deserves to have the stability to do what is right for him and his health with nothing holding him back.
Note: Any funds raised above the cost associated with this specific medical treatment will be used for other medical treatment, appointments, medical travel costs, medical equipment or will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
