My name is Monika and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Haylie DeRossett. Haylie is a 29 year old, beautiful and vibrant mom, wife, sister, daughter, and friend. She is the first to help someone who is in need and would NEVER ask for help herself! She has been through so much in her short life span and has been, yet again, hit with one of life’s triumphs. Despite all of the obstacles, she still holds tight to her faith and faces things head on with the most grace and strength, something I’ll always admire her for! If you know Haylie, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Her and her husband, Tyler, are currently facing hardship, bigger than anything I can imagine and needs help. On June 4th, Haylie finally went into the hospital due to unbearable pain after battling Ulcerative colitis for the last two years. Prior to June 4th, she had been dealing with this flare, which I would describe as torture, for months! She went to Putnam medical and was then transferred to North Florida Regional. They tried everything they could to treat this flare and stop the inflammation in her colon. Unfortunately, on June 18th, while still in the hospital, her increased pain spiked alarm and it was found that her colon perforated. The surgeon, unfortunately, could not save her colon, but did save her life. Her life is now forever changed, as you can imagine. She has been out of work and will continue to be out for a while longer due to this surgery. Her husband is also out of work as he has not left her side. Haylie had also started her own cleaning business which is currently in Limbo, obviously, due to her physical state. This just goes to show you how hard she works, with working 40hrs a week at her day job along with her cleaning business.
There will also be another surgery in the near future that will take place out of state as a specialist has to perform this and will require another extensive hospital stay and loss of wages. There will also be travel expenses. I can’t imagine what medical bills have already stacked up and what’s yet to come.
Many have asked what they can do. #1 thing is to Pray! We need God to take Haylie in his hands, help her recover, and to take care of her and her little family.
