Support for Kyler, Alyssa, Aven & Baby Layton on the Road to Healing
On June 2nd, Kyler and Alyssa’s lives were forever changed. In an unthinkable act of violence, Kyler was shot and critically injured, leaving him fighting for his life. By the grace of God, Kyler survived—but the journey ahead is long, uncertain, and filled with immense physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Kyler sustained a spinal cord injury and is currently diagnosed with lower extremity paralysis, with his prognosis still needing to be determined depending on how rehab goes.
Despite the unimaginable pain and hardship, Kyler and Alyssa remain anchored in their faith. They continue to see God’s hand in every moment—in the prayers surrounding them, in the love of their family and friends, in the tireless work of law enforcement pursuing justice, in the compassionate care of countless medical professionals, and most of all, in the safe arrival and birth of their newest son, Layton, during this storm. Aven also continues to be a burst of energy and has been a great big brother, giving Kyler and Alyssa even more strength and purpose in this season of deep trial. They are clinging to the truth that God is near in this valley, working all things for good, and shining His light even in the darkest moments.
This fundraiser has been created to help support their family through the months ahead—covering medical expenses, travel costs, time away from work, medical equipment and adaptations that will likely be needed, and the daily needs of raising two young boys while Kyler undergoes extensive treatment. Every donation and act of kindness is a lifeline, and they are profoundly grateful for each one. Above all, they ask for continued prayer over their family. Prayers for physical and emotional recovery, for their ability to remain steadfast in their faith, for a continued sense of peace, courage, and strength, for their boys to adjust as appropriately as they can in the middle of this chaos, for their family and loved ones supporting them in this journey, for God to continue to work miracles in all of this if that is his will, and to use this journey and story as a testimony of his power, healing, and unwavering love.
Please know that Alyssa and Kyler are incredibly overwhelmed during this time, as they focus each day on Kyler’s recovery and caring for their two young boys while navigating the upheaval of their lives and an unexpected move across state lines to ensure Kyler is getting the best care possible. While they deeply wish they could respond personally to every message and call, it’s simply not possible right now.
