Help Ellen Heal: Support a Lifelong Caregiver in Her Time of Need
If you’ve ever met Ellen, you know what it means to be truly cared for.Ellen has spent her life caring for others — as a teacher, a paraprofessional, and a personal care assistant for children with disabilities. Being a caregiver isn’t just her profession — it’s who she is at her core. She’s the person who instinctively puts others’ needs ahead of her own, the one who shows up quietly, consistently, and wholeheartedly.
As her brother Steve says, “She cared for me as a little kid. She even let me stay up late to watch Fantasy Island now and then. That’s who she is. Always giving.”
But now Ellen needs our care.At the end of March, Ellen underwent hip replacement surgery to repair a fracture. What should have been the beginning of recovery quickly spiraled into a painful and uncertain journey.
• A few weeks after the surgery, she developed a serious infection and had to undergo a second surgery.
• Shortly after, her hip dislocated — not once, but twice — requiring a third surgery to repair the damage.
Ellen has endured a tremendous amount of pain, both physical and emotional. Her recovery, originally expected to take weeks, is now stretching into months. She is resilient, but she is exhausted. She was scheduled to return to work this summer, but due to these complications, that’s no longer possible. As a result, she has no income while her medical and everyday bills continue to pile up.
We’re reaching out on her behalf to ask for your help. Ellen needs support to get through the next four to six months — to pay her bills, manage her recovery, and regain the strength to return to the work she loves so dearly.
