Last November, Kris Drake was hospitalized with what was thought to be pancreatitis. After furthertesting, the devastating truth emerged-she has Stage 2 pancreatic cancer.This diagnosis means the tumor is significant but potentially operable, and with surgery andtreatment, there’s a chance for a cure. But first, Kris had to undergo several months of grueling
chemotherapy to shrink the tumor. She’s now preparing for major surgery in July-the Whippleprocedure-which will be followed by an extended recovery period and likely more chemotherapy.Kris is a registered nurse, a loving mother and grandmother, and the kind of friend who’s always
