Support for Jill and Jema After Jason’s Passing

I VC - Support for Jill and Jema After Jason’s Passing

As many of you know by this time, for reasons none of us will ever know or understand, Jason chose to move on from this world and to the next.

My name is Irene, I have been friends with Jill for nearly 40 years and friends with Jason throughout their time together. On behalf of Jema and Jill I wanted to do this to provide as much opportunity for support as possible.

It is hard to put into words the shock, dismay and confusion they are experiencing. While it is hard enough for adults to come to terms with suicide, it is even more difficult for Jema at age 15 to lose her father in this manner. Jill and Jema are in the early days of navigating how to manage tomorrow – the world doesn’t stop to allow time for grief. Plans must be made in so many respects – and there was no contingency plan for this. Jema is now one parent less, Jill is one support less to care for Jema and the future feels unstable and unpredictable.

With the emotional turmoil right now, it is almost impossible to find a way to make up the financial monthly support Jason was providing. We now have only one parent trying to scramble to create the finances needed to care for Jema on even the basic needs level (shelter, food, clothing) as well as provide for her emotional needs and therapy; no longer having insurance following his passing.

The heartbreak is unfathomable right now for Jema, for Jill, for family and friends. I know all of those who have loved them can understand how profound this loss is. But as I said, the world doesn’t stop for mourning.

In sadness, Jason will miss graduation, watching Jema become a young woman, seeing her succeed, her wedding or his grandchildren.
Jill will mourn the man she married, the man who’s child she carried and the support only a father can bring to their child.

If it feels in line with your heart, I ask you to consider helping Jill with finances navigate next steps, navigate next month, next year and the 3 remaining years for Jema’s childhood that Jill is now on her own to provide.

Thank you for hearing this update and considering in your heart if you are able to help support Jema and support Jill’s ability to provide.

Please know that there is emotional support available for all of us 24/7 by dialing 988. Do not suffer in silence. The loss is too great.
