I’m writing today with a heavy heart and a hopeful spirit to request help for my son, who became a paraplegic following an accident that changed our lives. Prior to his injury, he was self-employed, working hard lifting and moving furniture. Unfortunately, his condition now prevents him from doing the work he once loved.
It has been just over a year since the accident, and while he has made some progress with self-care, daily tasks remain a challenge. One of his passions is cooking, and he would greatly benefit from a standing wheelchair—designed for paraplegics—which allows users to be upright while securely strapped in. This would not only support his passion but also provide significant health benefits such as improved blood circulation and reduced risk of pressure sores, which can result from sitting all day.
We are also in desperate need of a smaller, more lightweight wheelchair. The current one is difficult for me to lift into our car, and I struggle due to my own back problems and age-related disc issues.
Although he has been approved for disability benefits, those funds barely cover his basic needs, and my personal savings have been completely depleted. We are truly at a crossroads and uncertain of what to do next.
If you or your organization are able to assist in any way—whether through monetary donations, supplies, or advice on where we might find support—we would be incredibly grateful. We understand times are difficult for many, so any help, no matter how small, would be a blessing.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. If you are someone who believes in God, may He bless you. And if your beliefs lie elsewhere, may you be blessed in whatever way brings you peace and purpose.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Evelyn Neely
