Help Support Arwen with Post Surgery Care.
We are raising funds to help Arwen Mercer with upcoming medical care and in-home care after leaving the hospital for open-heart surgery. Arwen had a recently discovered condition called ACA of the Left Coronary Artery. It is a genetic defect since birth, and people her age are rarely seen alive with it. At just 22 years old, she had open-heart surgery to fix the issue. The results were not as we were hoping. After 10 hours of surgery and 8 hours of bypass, she awoke days later to discover she lost complete feeling in her right hand, including touch, temperature, strength, and limited motion, where she can’t grab things or coordinate her hand too well. She also found out another surgery is recommended to fix it permanently due to extensive damage to her artery and overstress on the bypass they did due to having an additional artery now. With limited motion of her dominant hand, a possible future surgery soon, and the pain of open-heart surgery, she will be out of work for months with no idea when, or if, she will get feeling back. If they can’t fix her hand, it will compromise her career, the ability to feed her own babies, and her day-to-day life, making her home care after surgery even harder. All funds will go to helping her get the in-home care and support she needs for the next few months as we work on therapy, treatment, and possibly future heart and neuro surgeries if needed. Thank you for your consideration and all donations.
