A stroke changed my life – but I believe in healing through community
Hi, my name is Cyndy and earlier this year, my life took an unexpected turn. At 52, I suffered a massive stroke that forced me to leave my job of 15 years. I can no longer work, drive, or manage many daily tasks on my own. My husband, Terry, has stepped back from his job to take care of me full-time, taking me to therapy and medical appointments and supporting me through every stage of my recovery.
I’ve always been someone who showed up for others. I opened my home to those in need, shared what I had, and never imagined one day I’d need to ask for help myself. But here I am, humbled, hopeful, and asking for your support.
Right now, we’re struggling to keep up with medical bills, therapy costs, and essential home repairs. I attend physical, speech, and occupational therapy every week, and I’m still undergoing testing. Our home needs updates for my safety, like installing railings, and our septic tank is failing. These aren’t luxuries; they’re necessities for me to heal and live with dignity. We’ve applied for disability, but the process is slow and uncertain. Meanwhile, the bills don’t stop. Everyday expenses like gas, food, and utilities have become overwhelming with only one reduced income.
This campaign isn’t just about finances; it’s about giving me a fighting chance at independence. It’s about relieving some of the pressure my husband quietly carries, and it’s about believing in the kindness of people, many of whom I’ve never met.
If my story touches your heart, please consider donating or sharing. Every gift, big or small, brings us one step closer to stability and hope.
Thank you for reading, thank you for caring, and thank you for being part of my recovery.
With all my heart, Cyndy
