Our dear sweet dog Daisy was hit by a car this morning. We rushed her to the emergency vet where they were able to stabilize her. She was in severe shock, her leg is broken, all of her paws are skinned up, and parts of her pads are missing. She is stable, her pain is controlled with pain medication, and they were able to splint her leg. The cost for the emergency vet was $3,100.
We still have a long road ahead of us. She will be released from the animal hospital tomorrow, at which time she has to be seen by an orthopedic surgeon. At that point, we have to make the decision to either have reconstructive surgery or amputate the leg. Amputation could cost $1,000 to $2,500, whereas the surgery could be between $6,000 and $10,000. We absolutely want to make the best decision for our dog as she is our baby.
Our finances are currently strained due to having to pay funeral expenses a few weeks ago for our 19-year-old son who took his own life. We absolutely appreciate any amount someone may be able to contribute as well as sharing the fundraiser if you are unable to donate.
