We are a family of 6. My daughter is 13 and was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Pots syndrome. She has trouble walking, standing for periods of time, and getting up too quickly. She has to sit down when showering due to pain. She has had to quit all sports that she has previously excelled in. Surgery will be required in the near future but she will live with this for the rest of her life. We are seeking help with ADA ramp due to not being able to use stairs. Surgery costs, specialist visits, genetic testing, and anything else that may come up. My biggest fear is her not being able to take care of herself or work to provide a living. I am considering starting a business specifically to help people with similar diagnosis and donating profits to a foundation developed in my daughters name if we can raise enough money to get started. The pain is secondary to the looks she gets from people that do not understand the illness. Any help will be used wisely and for this purpose only.
