My good friend, Jen Rice has recently been diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) which is a rare type of soft tissue Sarcoma Cancer. Jen is an art teacher for the Timberlane School District and has been there for 20 years. She has dedicated her life to teaching children. Jen and her husband David have an 11 year old son who is the light of their life. David has been out of work since being laid off in November of 2024 which is adding to the family’s hardships.
Jen has started treatment (chemo) in Boston, but MD Anderson Cancer Center in Texas is renowned for its expertise in treating sarcoma, including both bone and soft tissue sarcomas. They have a specialized Sarcoma Center that treats a wide range of sarcoma types and related conditions. This cancer is incurable, but treatable and MD Anderson has many successful clinical trials that are saving lives. Only 1% of the population is diagnosed with this aggressive cancer. Jen has a long road with many expenses in the future.
Jen will be traveling in July to Texas and the money that is raised would help cover costs of travel, housing, medical bills and other related expenses. Let’s help Jen pay some of her expenses, so that she can focus her energy on fighting this cancer.
