During a 10 year battle with Crohn’s Disease, I have experienced many ups and downs. This month I hit a real low point for me and I was hospitalized for a week due to severe abdominal pain. It turned out to be a severe but typical Crohn’s flair up.
While I was in the hospital the doctors noticed that my heart beat was irregular. It was going into Bradycardia (too low) causing me to get very weak, nauseous, and at risk for falls, heart attack and stroke. My nurses would wake me up and take me for a walk if it got into a dangerous zone. I was monitored very closely and will start at home monitoring to figure out what’s causing this. I have appointments with three different specialists in the next two months for different aspects of my health and have many more hurdles to overcome.
The financial burden of covering hospital expenses, specialist appointments, tests, and medications is high, even with good medical insurance, which thankfully I have. I have not returned to work yet but plan to, in a limited capacity, until this heart issue can be resolved and my pain level goes down.
If you’d like to help ease my financial burdens please consider donating to help me focus on my health and not my finances.
Thank you,
Melissa
