Hello friends, B here. As many of you know, we experienced an event that altered many of our realities on May 6th. Our beloved Gwynn Pearl suffered a massive stroke while at work and while the response was immediate and 1st Responders were on site quickly, it was a very traumatic medical emergency with extensive damage to right-side mobility, cognitive functioning, and verbal communication. Providers have been wonderful and consistent progress has been made through therapy. The original prognosis has been blown out of the water and I know none of us are surprised by that. Our Lioness will rise up and fight for herself like she has always fought for anyone in need. It has been quite an overwhelming ordeal but as we move to the next phase, we will need help from all of you.
Gwynn is currently still unable to communicate verbally or write. She can read and understands what is being spoken. Anyone who knows her knows… this is infuriating and depressing. Her gift in this world is communication. There is a communication device specifically for stroke victims that needs to be ordered immediately. The cost is $10,000.00 but I am hoping insurance will cover a large portion of that.
Some other things that we need to purchase are packing boxes, moving trucks and/or movers, large storage space rental, 2 months’ rent to allow time to transition, an iPad for regular communication and therapy apps, medical devices for ongoing and intense physical therapy going forward, fuel for those helping with all the transitions, and any ancillary needs that are currently unforeseen but undoubtedly will come up.
Gwynn would do ANYTHING for ANYONE in need. And has consistently done so throughout her beautiful life. A true example of a servant’s heart. My hope is we can all step up and return the favor right now.
