Isra is a bright and brave 5-year-old girl from Afghanistan who has been diagnosed with a hole in her heart (a congenital heart defect). She urgently needs surgery to survive and grow up healthy.

Her parents have taken her to Pakistan, where doctors are ready to perform the surgery—but the cost is $3,500, far beyond what her family can afford.

Isra’s aunt and uncle, who live in Minnesota and came to the U.S. as refugees seven years ago, are doing everything they can to raise funds for her operation.
