Support for my best friend
Mater’s Urgent Stroke and Cardiac Care in the Philippines
My name is Stella G. Moorer, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for someone who has always been there for me—my best friend from childhood, Mater.
Mater recently suffered a stroke and a cardiac arrest, and she is now in a comatose state in a hospital in the Philippines. Her condition is critical, and the cost of her care is more than her family can manage. She urgently needs continued hospital support, medications, and treatment to give her a fighting chance.
Mater and I grew up like sisters. I am four years older than her, but our bond was deep and full of love. I grew up in a home struggling with my father’s illness, and my family had very little. But Mater—who was adopted by her kind aunt and uncle—never turned away from me. When I needed money for food or my father’s medicine, she quietly opened the cash register at her auntie’s grocery store and gave me what she could.
She gave, even when she didn’t have much. Now it’s my turn to try and give back to her.
Though I was fortunate to move to the United States for a better life, Mater remained in the Philippines, where even the best education can’t always guarantee a stable job or income. Still, she remained generous, loving, and humble.
We’re doing all we can to support her, but we urgently need help. Her family is struggling, and any support—whether a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this message—can make a difference. No amount is too small; every peso, every dollar brings us one step closer to saving her life or at least easing her family’s burden during this painful time. It will also help cover her hospital bills and give her the care she needs.
If you can’t donate right now, please share this message. Prayers, good thoughts, and positive energy are also deeply appreciated.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me support someone who once gave me so much when I had so little.
With love and gratitude,
Stella G. Moorer
