Hello,
My name is Gloria Torres, and I recently retired as an instructional aide after 22 years. I have been undergoing cancer treatment since August 2018, which has made me immunocompromised. I have received hormone therapy, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy throughout the years. Last year, I contracted the flu in December 2023 and Covid-19 in March 2024. As a result, my doctor recommended that I retire. I kept working until the third week of November of 2024.
In December of 2024, I was placed on medical leave due to my compromised immune system. My doctor was concerned that I may contract a virus causing delays in treatment and potentially cause setbacks. I have to be extremely careful especially during cold and flu season.
I would really appreciate any monetary assistance you could provide . I do not currently qualify for Medicare. My new insurance premium will cost $200 per month with a $1,650 deductible and a maximum out-of-pocket expense of $5,650 this year. Additionally, in January, I would have to meet the same deductible and max out of pocket again. Insurance won’t pay for my medications until I reach the deductible and then I’ll have to pay 20% of the cost of medications until I reach the max out of pocket.
My retirement came with a significant pay cut, as I will only be receiving half of my previous salary. I would like to raise enough money to cover my medical bills and any outstanding medical expenses. If I could have continued working without further jeopardizing my health, I would have.
I don’t typically seek help, but at this moment, I humbly ask for any monetary assistance you may be able to provide. I sincerely appreciate your consideration. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
