Help Amie Save Her Dad, Geoff
My amazing friend Amie is preparing to do something truly heroic—she’s donating part of her liver to save her dad’s life. Her father, Geoff, has been fighting liver cancer for the past three years. Despite multiple surgeries to remove recurring tumors, doctors have now said that a liver transplant is the only option left.
Amie is stepping up in the most selfless way possible. The transplant surgery is scheduled for June 23rd in Toronto.
While Amie is giving everything she can to help her dad, she needs our support to make it through this journey. Manitoba Health doesn’t cover any of the costs associated with being a living donor—not housing, not food, not medication—and Amie doesn’t have private health insurance to help with the burden.
She will also need to take at least three months off work to recover, which adds a major financial strain on top of everything else.
To make sure Amie has the support she needs during her recovery, her sister Angela will be traveling to Toronto to be her caregiver. Angela will also need help covering travel and living expenses while she’s away from home.
We’re hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover:
Temporary housing in Toronto
Groceries and daily living costs
Post-surgery medication and recovery expenses
Lost income while Amie is off work during recovery
Travel and living expenses for Angela as Amie’s caregiver
This is a life-saving gift from a daughter to her father, and no one should have to carry that weight alone. If you’re able to contribute, any amount will make a difference. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this post to help spread the word.
Let’s come together to support Amie and her family—just like she’s stepping up to support her dad. ❤️
