Help Bennett Recover After Heart Surgery

Bennett and his wife are facing an incredibly difficult journey after what was supposed to be a routine heart valve transplant. Instead of a smooth recovery, Bennett has developed serious complications that require him to remain on a ventilator, with a tracheostomy and feeding tube. On top of these challenges, Bennett was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, adding another layer of complexity to his recovery. The road ahead now involves specialized rehabilitation to help him breathe on his own, regain muscle strength, and eventually get back to a more independent life. Unfortunately, insurance is not covering many of these critical rehab services, leaving the family with mounting medical bills and tough decisions about his care.

Bennett and his wife live in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, but his treatment and rehabilitation require frequent travel to Milwaukee and Madison. The long distances add up quickly, with expenses for gas, hotels, and meals on top of the medical costs. Bennett’s wife is emotionally drained, doing everything she can to support him while navigating a confusing and overwhelming medical system. Bennett himself is scared, anxious, and frustrated, struggling to understand what’s happening and why recovery is so hard. As a family, we are doing everything possible to get him to a facility that can meet his needs, but the process is exhausting and resources are limited.

We’re reaching out for help to cover the costs of Bennett’s ongoing care, travel, and rehabilitation. Every contribution will go directly toward giving Bennett the best chance at recovery and easing the burden on his wife during this incredibly challenging time. Your support means the world to us as we fight to get Bennett the help he needs.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
