My name is Allison, and I am reaching out to honor my father, John Thomas. When I was just 13, my dad passed away from colon cancer after a difficult six-month battle. He was a teacher and a wonderful father, but when he died, he left us without life insurance or the means to give him a proper funeral. We couldn’t afford a burial plot, so we placed his ashes in the San Marcos River by a restaurant that was once called Peppers by the Falls. While I visited that spot a few times, it never gave me the sense of closure or a place to truly grieve and remember him.
Now, at 52, I still feel the pain of not having a place to honor my dad. A recent flashback of his illness brought back all the emotions I felt as a teenager, reminding me how much I still need a space to heal. I want to finally give my father the proper burial he always deservedβa place where I, my siblings, and his grandkids can visit, remember him, and find comfort. The funds from this fundraiser will go toward purchasing a burial plot for my dad, choosing the most affordable option to make this possible.
Thank you for reading my story and considering helping me honor my father. Any support you can offer means so much to me and my family, and will help us find peace and healing after all these years.
