While Mom is in the hospital, our family has had a hotel room just a few minutes away where we’ve been rotating out with each other. It’s been a true blessing to have a place to rest, shower, recharge, do laundry, and—most importantly—stay close to her.
Many of you have offered help in so many ways. We’ve been blessed with baskets of food, snacks, and a couple of cash donations, all of which we deeply appreciate!
For those who feel led to contribute financially, please know that 100% of what we receive will go first toward hotel expenses, and then toward any medical costs not covered by insurance.
We don’t make this request lightly—it’s something our family has prayerfully considered. The reality is that unexpected medical circumstances come with unexpected financial demands. Your gift, no matter the amount, will help us remain close to Mom during this time.
Being close has already made a powerful difference. Since Saturday morning, 6/14, Mom has been sedated on a ventilator and feeding tube. Monday, 6/16, the medical team briefly lowered her sedation—just enough that she could open her eyes, wiggle her toes, and recognize we were there. It only lasted about 20 minutes, but because we have been able to stay nearby, Christina was already in the room, and Dad—who had just stepped into the hospital cafeteria—was able to run upstairs in time to be with her. Seeing life in her eyes again was a deeply emotional and energizing moment for him. If he hadn’t been close, he would’ve missed it.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read this and for walking alongside us through prayer, encouragement, and support.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”
