My name is Matthew, and I’m raising funds to cover travel expenses for dental implant procedures that are essential for my health and quality of life. Growing up, my parents took in my three younger nephews, and dental care was never a priority for us. As a result, I’ve struggled with dental issues for most of my life. In 2017, I lost my father to cirrhosis of the liver, which led me into a deep depression. Then, in March 2020, my mother passed away. During those years, I found it hard to put myself first and take care of my health, especially my dental needs.
My dental problems have been ongoing for years. In 2015, I had eight back teeth removed, and I never returned to the dentist. I battled severe infections until I finally had a consultation with Aspen Dental, where I learned my infection could put me in the hospital. On October 30, 2024, I had 14 teeth extracted—my entire upper set and four lower teeth. I currently have eight natural teeth on the bottom that need work or extraction, and I’ve been told I have advanced periodontal disease. I’m still using a temporary partial denture and have my final upper, but I continue to experience pain and difficulty eating.
Getting dental implants is critical for me. They will help prevent further bone loss, protect the bone I have left, and allow me to eat as close to normal as possible. I need to travel to Scottsdale, Arizona, for multiple appointments, and the costs of transportation, lodging, and meals are more than I can manage alone. My wife will be traveling with me, and I’m grateful for the support of my family and friends, but we need help to make this possible. Any support will bring me closer to a healthier, pain-free life and help me regain confidence and comfort in daily activities.
