Hello, as most people know, I have had some serious medical issues that have been increasing over the past few years. The issues have made it difficult to pick up extra sub jobs, work overtime, and even do basic tasks like walk, bend over, hold things, etc. It was getting to the point where I could sometimes not even move my arms or legs, speak, or think when my brain started swelling. I keep a cane in the car and am worried about going to any place where smells/chemicals could trigger an episode. Benadryl and Ibuprofen help manage things on a small scale when things get scary.
I have had many medical tests done so far. MRIs showed that it is not brain cancer, strokes, or MS. Neck scans showed a bone spur that was common in my line of work but was not touching the brainstem. EEGs showed I wasn’t having silent seizures. Blood tests were normal except being diagnosed with Celiac disease. We will be waiting for 6 months to see if that was the contributing factor to increased brain swelling but will have to have more tests and specialists if it does not resolve.
I am making this fundraiser to help with medical costs as the medical bills are making it tough on my income. Insurance does not cover all of my tests and doctor visits. I am thankful for the local food bank who help make sure I have food, and for the community aid for help helping with my past due power, but the medical bills are starting to affect my credit which I have been working hard on since Georgia left for college (and had made great progress until my medical bills piled up). It is so important for me to have good credit at this time so that I can be able to fly Georgia home if needed or go see my dad if he gets sick. Having funds this summer to be able to renew my certification and take required classes are a must and I will not see my summer school funds until the August or September paychecks. I have attempted to get an emergency medical loan, but my credit is still not high enough for that.
