In early April, my husband of 30 years, and father of 2 grown boys, was diagnosed with Colo-rectal cancer that has spread to his lymph-nodes. He is only 49 years old.
His oncologist moved very quickly to get everything lined up. They wanted to do 6 treatments of chemotherapy across 12 weeks, followed by 25 radiation treatments.
As we approached the beginning phases of treatment we were shocked to hear about the long-term affects that the treatments will have on his body. With his age in mind (and hopefully with much life ahead of him), we have chosen to go a different direction and intend to use every holistic and natural method available to heal his body.
We have already paid $7000 out of pocket towards conventional methods, including multiple tests, labwork and office visits, just to meet our deductible before insurance will start to pay for anything. Having already thrown a large amount of money at this, we are now looking at starting over. We anticipate paying upwards of $1500 every month just for necessary supplements and for a complete overhaul to his diet. There will still be plenty of bills of course, insurance paying only for those that will fall under their approved treatments.
This will be quite an expense for us to take on, but we feel this will give us the best chance at preserving as many years of his life as possible, and Lord willing, to heal his cancer completely.
