Hello friends, family, and the world.
My name is Jeremy Padilla and I am the eldest of six. We grew up close, we didn’t have a lot of material things, but we were blessed to have each other. On behalf of my family, I am reaching out to everyone to tell you about our baby sister, Katie who is fighting for her life.
Katie is legally blind and is the brightest and most beautiful person you could ever possibly meet. She loves to read, go to the movies, cook, hangout with family and friends, laugh and experience life to the fullest.
At 35 years old, she has managed to graduate with her Masters Degree in Science, start her PhD, travel to many different countries to taste their cuisines, and live a life on her own in San Francisco to start her career. She loves to learn, enjoys to teach, lives to try new things, and still has that adventurous spirit that she had as a beautiful little girl. Katie is beloved by her cousins, adored by her nieces/nephews, and values her countless friendships. It’s no wonder her middle name is Joy.
Growing up in a family with six kids wasn’t always easy, but we all were happy to let Katie be favored by our parents. She is especially close to our mom; their bond is unbreakable. We love our little sister so much. We spoiled her, doted on her, watched her tackle life to make her dreams come true, and were there for her whenever she needed us. As we all had families of our own, she reciprocated that, and spoiled her nieces/nephews, loving them like they were hers.
We’ve supported Katie every step of the way and now, we are asking for your help— because she needs us again.
On Tuesday, June 3rd, Katie wasn’t feeling well at work and wanted to go home. Our sister, Jing, rushed her to the hospital and within moments of arriving at the ER, everything changed…
Katie’s condition deteriorated rapidly. The doctors acted quickly, performed tests, and diagnosed her with an Intracerebral Hemorrhage, a massive brain bleed that caused her to have a stroke. After multiple surgeries, she is now in the ICU fighting for her life. We are hopeful. We are praying. And more than anything, we just want our sister back.
We understand that this will totally impact her life.
Katie has a long road ahead—physically, mentally, and financially. We are doing everything we can to provide her with the best care, but we can’t do it alone. We are humbly asking for your support to help cover the costs of her treatment and her life changes.
Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly to her medical care and recovery. Your support means the world to us—and to Katie.
Thank you for hearing our story.
