Hi everyone. My son was diagnosed with Generalized Epilepsy in January, and in February, we got him a German Shepherd puppy to be his companion. My son’s dog Tex was with him on May 28th when he had a 9-minute long seizure. During my son’s seizure, Tex was licking his face and would bark and scratch at my son’s bedroom door. Tex has not had any training, but we would like to get him trained as a service dog to be with my son wherever he goes and has shown that he has the instinct for it. I have talked to several local dog trainers, but it is a specialized training we would have to travel for or pay a trainer to come work with my son and Tex. The training could cost up to $50,000. We are also filing for grants to help get him trained, but every little bit helps. Thank you for reading our story.
