Help us support Anastasia Jade’s fight in the pediatric ICU

Hi, my name is Amber, and I’m helping create this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Sadie and her daughter Anastasia.

Help Us Support Anastasia Jade’s Fight in the Pediatric ICU. Her sweet baby girl, Anastasia Jade, just 1 year and 7 months old, is currently fighting for her life in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit after a terrifying and unexpected medical emergency.

On Thursday, June 5th, while at daycare, Anastasia spiked a high fever of 103°F. Her mom, Sadie, rushed to pick her up and took her straight to her pediatrician. At first, she was still smiling, humming her daycare songs, and acting normal. But as they waited for the doctor, everything changed — she began seizing in Sadie’s arms. 911 was immediately called.

While being rushed to the local Hospital, Ana experienced a second seizure in the ambulance. Despite sedatives and emergency seizure medication, it continued. Once they arrived at the ER, Ana had 4 more seizures back-to-back. Doctors had to administer 3 different sedatives, including fentanyl for the pain – and performed both a spinal tap and an EEG on her brain.

Anastasia’s spinal fluid test results showed she is positive for Adenovirus, and additional blood work revealed a serious Moraxella bacterial infection, which is now causing pneumonia.

She was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital, where she was placed on a ventilator to help her breathe and begin intensive treatment. She is now in a medically induced paralysis so she doesn’t accidentally pull out her breathing or feeding tubes, since she’s too young to understand what is happening to her body.

Due to thick secretions in her lungs, it’s not yet safe to remove the breathing tube. Her recovery depends on her tiny body fighting off the virus with the support of antibiotics and several other medications. As of now, there is no clear timeline for when she will be able to breathe on her own again.

This has taken an enormous toll on the entire family — but as a single mom, it’s just Sadie left to manage everything. Along with Anastasia’s growing medical bills, there are still regular monthly expenses and household bills that continue to add up while her mom is by her side and unable to work.

We’re hoping to take some weight off Sadie and her family’s shoulders by fundraising for:

• Medical expenses not covered by insurance

• Travel and unforeseen expenses

• Essential bills and support while Ana is impatient at Loyola.

Anastasia Jade is a strong, brave little girl, and I believe in her fight with all my heart. Your support — whether through donations, prayers, or sharing this page — means more than we could ever express.
