Help Ashley Get to MD Anderson to Fight Rare & Aggressive Cancer
Hi, my name is Tracy, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my beautiful friend Ashley Arendale Murphy — a devoted wife, mother, and a bright light in our community and church family at Hillview Baptist Church.
Ashley has been diagnosed with an extremely rare and aggressive neuroendocrine tumor (NET) known as pheochromocytoma, located in the retroperitoneum. The tumor is sitting directly on her vena cava and aorta — two of the most critical blood vessels in the body — and has already spread to at least one lymph node near the aorta.
Pheochromocytomas are incredibly rare, occurring in only 2 to 8 people per million each year. Most doctors never treat a case like this. Because of the tumor’s danger and complexity, Ashley has been referred to the world-renowned specialists at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, one of the few places equipped to treat this kind of cancer.

The Road Ahead
Ashley will begin treatment at MD Anderson soon. This is the beginning of a long road filled with frequent trips back and forth for scans, surgery, and specialized care. These aren’t easy visits — they come with long hours, physical toll, and a growing financial burden.
Her husband has already had to miss work at Milwaukee Tool and will need to miss more in the coming weeks. Costs for travel, gas, lodging, meals, and medical care not covered by insurance are piling up fast.

Ashley is a fighter — not just for herself, but for others. She’s a huge part of the recovery community, helping people rise from addiction and heartbreak with love, truth, and prayer. She’s the first to help someone in crisis, to encourage the broken, and to lift others with her faith. Now she needs us to be her strength while she faces this life-threatening illness.
