Fam. Marquez Sandoval

Hello everyone!

On behalf of my family, I am wholeheartedly asking for your valuable support in obtaining an accurate diagnosis for my mom so that we can quickly begin treatment for her cancer. Her name is Martha Patricia Sandoval Rubio, 61 years old — a brave fighter, survivor, emotional, and above all, loving.

On June 5th, we received devastating news regarding the results of a vaginal biopsy that was done in May 2025: Poorly differentiated invasive adenocarcinoma.

My mom is a breast cancer survivor — she beat it 12 years ago in what was truly a miracle. She had stage IV cancer that should have metastasized, but miraculously, it became encapsulated. She only needed to have her right breast removed and undergo treatment. Everything seemed to be going well…

However, in March of last year, she began experiencing heavy vaginal bleeding. She sought care through the public health system, underwent a dilation and curettage/biopsy, and was told it wasn’t malignant — that she only had an enlarged endometrium (endometrial hyperplasia) about 2cm thick. The bleeding stopped for a while but returned moderately by December of that same year.

She then underwent a total hysterectomy, and the tissue was sent for analysis — no malignancy was found. During her recovery period (about three months later), she began to suffer from urinary incontinence, bleeding, and pelvic pain. She visited her family doctor regarding the incontinence and was only prescribed treatment for what was supposedly an infection — and nothing more.

In May, she told me she was experiencing severe cramps, bleeding, and more frequent urination. The prescribed treatment hadn’t helped, so I took her to a private gynecologist. Upon examination, he found a strange-looking granuloma on the cervical wall and a purplish dome with nodules and bleeding. He urgently referred us to the public hospital, where she was admitted for evaluation and underwent another vaginal biopsy on May 8th.

By then, she had already lost a significant amount of weight (about 20 kg). A few days later, she was diagnosed with cystitis in the emergency room due to extremely low blood pressure and feeling very unwell.

On June 9th, we received the biopsy results — and they were anything but encouraging. By June 10th, she had developed anemia, and we immediately took her to a private oncologist to interpret the biopsy results from the public hospital. After examining her and performing a pelvic ultrasound, the doctor confirmed the presence of a tumor approximately 10×11 cm on her pelvic wall, which is causing the urinary incontinence.

The day before, she had also begun having difficulty with bowel movements. This tumor is growing rapidly and is pressing against her bladder and part of her intestine, causing severe pain. There is another tumor inside the cervix. We still don’t know where the cancer cells originated. The oncologist has requested additional tests: a mammogram, CT scans of the chest, abdomen, and pelvis (the latter with contrast) to check for nearby metastases, and immunohistochemistry tests for breast and endometrial cancer to identify the cancer type based on her medical history.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the financial resources to cover everything my mom needs — and will need — through private care, but we know her life depends on it. It’s urgent to identify and locate the cancer so that we can provide the right treatment and save her. We must act immediately, as this cancer is growing very quickly.

I sincerely thank you for any support — not necessarily financial. Even a message of encouragement, a word of hope, or keeping my mom in your prayers is more than welcome. Together we are stronger, and I place my mom in God’s hands. Together, we will do everything we can to overcome this. If we made it through one battle, we can overcome this one too.

If you can help by sharing this story with your friends, acquaintances, and family, it would mean the world to us. The more of us fighting together for this cause, the better.

With all my heart, thank you so much for any kind of support. We are truly blessed by the help we’ve received from each and every one of you in this fight against cancer.

With much love,

The Marquez Sandoval Family
