Hello, My name is Bob Gravel, and I am representing the Friends of the Fitzgeralds, Jim and Jackie.
Many know the Fitzgeralds from the Public Boat Launch at Little Sebago Lake. Jim had been the Courtesy milfoil Inspector for over 25 years. Inspecting boats for the invasive milfoil weed, and generally dispensing assistance with answers about the rules and regulations on Little Sebago, and he has lent out a lifejacket or two! Jim no longer is employed in this position.
Jackie has spent the last 6 years as the parking Enforcement person for the Mt Hunger Shore Road Association. She has helped keep the road clear and traffic moving smoothly for folks coming in and leaving the small and very busy launch. Jackie was diagnosed a few weeks ago with Diffused Large B cell Lymphoma, a cancer of immune cells. She is no longer able to work at the launch, or at the Fryberg Fair in the Fall.
The sudden loss of the incomes from the milfoil inspector position and the Fryberg Fair will produce a hardship for the upcoming medical and winter expenses for the Fitzgeralds. Jim will pick up some of Jackie’s hours as parking enforcement, but this will not fill a large void.
They worked at these jobs to take care of winter heating and other bills. Therapy for Jackie begins this week and will last all year, with many copays and uninsured expenses.
Please contribute if you are able. These folks have always been here with a smile on their face and a helping hand for all. This is an opportunity to give back to two very deserving folks.
Thank you very much
