The Galloway’s lives were turned upside down in an instant on the evening of April 25th. A devastating car accident left Sean with severe life-threatening injuries, and Charli, their children and Sean’s lives were shattered into a million pieces overnight. The accident also caused their second oldest child to be ejected from the vehicle, resulting in a broken leg that required immediate surgery. They have all been left with memories they can never erase from their mind. The accident initially blamed on Sean has now been updated to no fault, as Sean and the kids confirmed the other driver crossed into their path. Unfortunately, the other driver lacked the insurance to cover the family’s expenses and Sean’s continued care.
Sean requires around the clock care due to his tracheostomy, feeding tube and immobility. This means he requires constant medical attention and assistance with daily activities, such as eating, bathing, and moving around. Additionally, Sean lacks health insurance, which makes it difficult for him to afford the necessary treatments, medications, and professional care services. Without proper financial support, managing his condition is more challenging and adds stress to their family.
Despite their divorce a few years ago, Charli’s love and concern for Sean has never wavered. She has set aside their differences and offered to step in to care for him, ensuring he receives the best possible daily care. Charli will be bringing Sean to her and the children’s home this week if all goes as planned with his discharge from the hospital. The family will need to purchase Sean bedding and medical equipment for daily care. Charli, as Sean’s primary caregiver, will need to stop working at the schools as a substitute, losing that financial opportunity as well.
The last eight and a half weeks have been incredibly challenging for Charli, Sean, and the kids. They have navigated through countless therapy sessions and heartfelt conversations, all in an effort to process their emotions during this tough time. The emotional strain on the family has been immense, and it’s clear that healing will take a significant amount of time and patience. Each day is a step forward, but the journey is far from over.
